1,000 Point Club — During Lady Charger Appreciation Night last Friday evening, new signs honoring Westview girls basketball players who scored more than 1,000 points during their high school hoop careers were revealed. Those players in attendance also received a commemorative basketball to honor their career achievements. The lone member of the 2,500-point club is current Westview Lady Charger Amber Rechis. The only other WHS girls player to top the 2,000-point plateau was LaToya Bellamy. There are three members of the 1,500-point club — Glenda Clifton, Beth Ann Boroughs and Kendall Cavin. Eleven different Lady Chargers have tallied more than 1,000 points. They are Betsy Wade, Shirley Windom, Emily Roberts, Paula Harris, Anita Hamilton, Ida Graves, Kimberly Boroughs, Jessica Wilson, Meghan Fuqua, Kendra Owens and the most recent addition to the list Grace Ann Swaim. Players from all four decades of Westview basketball were in attendance with approximately 100 former and current Lady Chargers called onto the court during the presentation. “I thought it was a great night,” current Westview head coach Sean Stephenson said, acknowledging that many people behind the scenes put in lots of hours to make the event a success. |
