Drug charges levied

Posted: Thursday, February 25, 2010 5:03 pm

Multiple drug charges were placed against a Troy woman during a traffic stop Wednesday night on North Second Street in Union City.
Jennifer Kay Vaughn, 30, of 340 Jack Long Road, Troy, was arrested at 8:13 p.m. in the 100 block of North Second Street, according to a Union City Police Department report.
She was charged with four counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, two counts of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana), possession of a legend drug and possession of drug paraphernalia, police reported.
An officer reported he stopped a vehicle due to a broken tail light and discovered the female driver appeared “very nervous.” The officer checked and learned she had been arrested in January on several drug charges and he confirmed with the woman that she was on probation.
The officer said he asked if he could search the vehicle and the woman consented, but allegedly grabbed her purse as she was exiting the vehicle; the officer asked her to leave the purse behind.
A search of the purse allegedly yielded a pill bottle that contained several different types of pills, as well as a plastic wrapper that contained more pills in a pocket on the side. The woman told police she forgot they were in her purse, according to the report.
In addition, the woman allegedly indicated to police that she had marijuana and a pipe in the crotch of her pants. She retrieved the items for police and allegedly indicated she was holding it all for someone else, police reported.
Police seized the pills, marijuana and the pipe.
