| Martin man busted for crack, marijuana |

A Department of Children’s Services welfare check has led to the arrest of a Martin man for drug charges.
According to a press release issued by the Martin Police Department, MPD Capt. Randal Walker and Inv. Tommy Erwin were called to #54 Lakeview Circle in Martin for a welfare check of the residence on Wednesday. The child welfare complaints alleged drugs were being processed at the residence.
During the welfare check, John Barnett III of Martin attempted to enter the home, according to the press release. Barnett is a convicted felon and is not permitted on the premises of the housing authority.
A search of Barnett uncovered a small plastic bag containing 9 off-white colored chunks of a substance believed to be crack-cocaine, according to an affidavit of complaint.
Barnett also allegedly had 190 grams of marijuana, several Xanax and Hydrocodone pills and $823 in cash in his possession, according to the affidavit. Officers also seized a handgun from the residence.
Barnett was charged with possession of Schedule II with intent, possession of Schedule VI with intent and unlawful drug paraphernalia.
