The Delphian Review Club met recently in the home of Peggy Burnett, with president Carolyn Bloebaum presiding. Chaplain Maggie Vaughan used reflections on the March wind, which touches the lives of many in different ways every day, as her “thought for the day.” Roll call was answered with members giving alternative uses for everyday items. Sixteen members were present. Following the business meeting, Laura Denaburg gave an entertaining program on many items that could be used in unexpected ways. Various ideas from club members punctuated her program along with the interesting roll call. Among the most popular ideas mentioned by the program leader were using a “gripper/reacher” provided for orthopedic needs for retrieving items too high or too low to reach or as a garden helper picking vegetables. Using hair spray instead of bug spray was another favorite. Duel uses for numerous kitchen and household items were given. Co-hostess Glenda Chrisp served a delicious apple dumpling cobbler for dessert following the program. Published in The Messenger 3.24.10
