Early McKenzie lead too much for Lady Dawgs
Early McKenzie lead too much for Lady Dawgs | Gleason Lady Bulldogs, Taylor Stout, Lady Bulldogs, McKenzie Lady Rebels softball, Travatia Bowden, McKenzie, Gleason, Tennessee

Out of the shadows — Gleason senior Taylor Stout (left) trots toward home plate with the Lady Bulldogs’ fourth run following a wild pitch by McKenzie hurler Travatia Bowden Tuesday afternoon. McKenzie ultimately defeated the Lady Bulldogs 15-5.
Putting up six runs in the second inning and keeping their batting prowess for the remainder of the contest, the visiting McKenzie Lady Rebels put away the Gleason Lady Bulldogs in six innings, 15-5, this past Tuesday afternoon in Gleason.
Sami Verdell put the first run on the board for Gleason in the bottom of the second, but McKenzie scored three more in the third and entered the bottom of the fourth with a 9-1 lead.
In the home half of the fourth, GHS senior Taylor Stout led off with a single turned two-bagger on a dropped ball. She stole third and was brought across home plate on a sacrifice grounder by Verdell. Breanna Jones hit safely to shallow right field for a single. Jacqueline Montgomery struck out for the second out, but Katie Collins looped a shot into right field to score Jones and cut into the lead, 9-3.
The Lady Rebels put another run on the board in the fifth and five more runs in the sixth highlighted by a two-run home run belted by McKenzie pitcher Travatia Bowden.
Gleason tried to claw back into the game to open the bottom of the sixth. Stout again led off the atbat and rolled one through for a single. She made it to second and third on wild pitches and came in to score on a third straight wild pitch from Bowden. Jones singled on a line drive to right field and came in to score on another wild pitch, but Collins grounded out to end the game with a 15-5 win for McKenzie.
