Circumstances surrounding the death of a 48-year-old Dresden man remain unclear after his body was found outside of Gleason Thursday, March 18.
According to a press release issued by the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, Jackie Henson of Old Latham Road outside of Dresden, was found Saturday morning in a field near the 1900 block of Tumbling Creek Road outside of Gleason.
It is believed that Henson had purchased a roll of hay from someone on Tumbling Creek Road on Thursday, March 18, according to the release.
A witness apparently saw Henson pulling the hay down the road on a trailer and the hay had caught fire, the release cites.
After driving into a field, investigators believe Henson apparently had attempted to put out the fire with water from a nearby ditch and was overcome with smoke or suffered a medical emergency.
Henson’s partially burned body was found Saturday morning. His body was sent to the medical examiner’s office in Memphis for an autopsy.
