Obion man released following stabbing

Posted: Tuesday, April 13, 2010 9:04 pm

An Obion man was released from a Memphis hospital Monday after being treated for injuries sustained in a weekend stabbing incident.
Timothy Clay Smith, 23, a resident of Canada Drive in Obion, was airlifted to Regional Medical Center (the Med) in Memphis after being stabbed shortly after 9 p.m. Friday at a home at 306 North Broadway in Obion, police reported.
Smith returned home Monday afternoon, according to Obion Police Chief Royce Aker.
Robbie Gene Powers, 29, of 310 North Broadway, Obion, was arrested Friday night and charged with aggravated assault in connection with the incident. Aker said Powers’ parents live at the 306 North Broadway address.
According to police, the stabbing apparently resulted from a disagreement between two people, but exact details of what caused the dispute are not known.
Aker said Powers was arraigned Monday afternoon on the aggravated assault charge and released on a $20,000 bond pending his hearing.
