Drug charges levied
The Messenger. 11.26.07 A Humboldt man being sought by local police on drug-related charges was arrested Friday night in Union City. Toby Tobias Horton, 30, of 1535 Ingram Road, Humboldt, was arrested Monday at 8:17 p.m. at 310 Greenwood St. in Union City on warrants charging him with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance within a school zone, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance within a school zone and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a Union City Police Department report. Horton had been sought by police since Nov. 12 following the 27th Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Union City Police Department’s investigation of alleged drug activity at 721 Sunswept Drive, Apt. 4, at Parkview Manor Apartments in Union City. Investigators confiscated various drug paraphernalia and found evidence “of a large amount of illegal drugs having already been packaged for resale,” according to a press release from the DTF and police. The crack cocaine weighed about 47 grams, with a street value estimated at $9,400. Further investigation led police to believe the suspects inside the apartment saw investigators walking up to the apartment building and ran away. The suspects sought by police were identified as Horton and Latoya Townsend. Police received a tip Friday in reference to Horton’s allegedly being at 310 Greenwood St. in Union City. Upon officers’ arrival, he was brought out by the home owner and taken into custody, according to the police report.
