Greenfield doubles prove troublesome for Humboldt
Greenfield doubles prove troublesome for Humboldt | Greenfield Yellowjackets baseball, Tony Robinson, Humboldt Vikings, Heatch Crouse, Greenfield, Tennessee

Double trouble — Greenfield’s Tony Robinson, here racing up the first base line to beat out a bunt against Bradford, ripped one of the Jackets’ half dozen doubles and was 3-for-3 at the plate in their 11-0 shutout win over the Humboldt Vikings on Mo
The Greenfield Yellowjackets roped a half dozen doubles including four in their nine-run, fifth-inning outburst to defeat the host Humboldt Vikings 11-0 in five innings on Monday.
Greenfield leadoff man Tony Robinson created a heap of trouble for the Vikings. Robinson was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate including one of those six GHS doubles. The sophomore scored four runs, drove in a run and stole a base off Viking pitchers.
Greenfield’s Heath Crouse and Payton Page combined on the mound to limit Humboldt to two hits. Heath Crouse went four innings, giving up both hits while striking out three and walking none. Page pitched the final Viking at-bat, walking three and striking out three.
Robinson provided the Jackets with the only run they needed in the top of the first. His led off with a single and stole second base. Heath Crouse’s RBI double brought Robinson home with the go-ahead and eventual winning run.
After a scoreless second inning, Robinson struck again, knocking a one-out single and moving to third on Dalton Potts’ double. He crossed the plate on a throwing error to boost the GHS lead to 2-0.
The Jackets broke the game open in the top of the fifth and again Robinson was in the mix, drawing a leadoff walk. He eventually scored on Graham Perkins’ single. Soon after, the doubles parade began. Page rapped a 3-RBI double. Ty Smithson brought Page home with a double. Hunter Crouse walked.  Tyler Jones brought home Smithson and Hunter Crouse with a double. Robinson, in his second at-bat in the inning, doubled to plate Jones. Heath Crouse singled to bring in Robinson for an 11-0 Greenfield lead and eventual win.
