Block party set at UCES

Posted: Friday, May 7, 2010 12:54 pm

The Messenger, May 7, 2010
Union City Elementary School’s annual block party will be 5-8 p.m. May 14 at the school on South Miles Avenue.
Included in the fun will be a raffle, a student-generated art exhibit and auction, a bake sale, face painting, Magical Mink’s jumpers, a dunking booth, the opportunity to register children younger than 5 years old for free books each month and fireworks that will begin at 8 p.m.
There will also be popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, beverages, pizza and hamburgers and hot dogs prepared on an on-site grill and providing taste-tempting aromas for the students, parents, staff and friends of the school who are invited to attend the special evening.
Exhibits and stations at the event will feature the Obion County Public Library, the Union City fire and police departments, Obion County sheriff’s office, Obion County Rescue Squad representatives, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City, Harris Chiropractic, Obion County Reading Railroad, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee, National Guard and Obion County Waste Management.
“The UCES block party is always an eagerly anticipated event and is a great way to celebrate the end of another great school year,” a spokesman said. “It is the perfect opportunity to experience fun with family and friends in a safe and inviting atmosphere. You won’t want to miss it.”
