| DUI checkpoints announced |

The Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Martin Police Department have announced holiday sobriety checkpoints throughout this week into the weekend.
Recognizing the danger presented to the public by unlicensed drivers and unsafe vehicles, troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers who violate the law by operating unlicensed or by operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, according to a release issued by the THP.
The highway patrol has planned Traffic Enforcement roadblocks on July 2 and Sobriety Checkpoint roadblocks on July 4 in Weakley County.
The Martin Police Department will conduct a DUI checkpoint from 10 until 11 p.m. on Friday, July 2.
The department reported the checkpoint will be located on N. Lindell Street.
The MPD is joining with the Governor’s Highway Safety Office and other police agencies across Tennessee and the country to increase DUI awareness and decrease DUI offenses as a part of the “4th of July Holiday” campaign.
