Barbecue supper set
Cayce United Methodist Church, located on Highway 94, will have its annual barbecue supper July 21. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. and the menu will include barbecued pork and mutton, slaw, potato salad, baked beans and homemade desserts.
The public is invited to attend.
Soul Food featured
Exchange Street Church of Christ at 420 Exchange St. in Union City is hosting their next Soul Food Café Wednesday. The night has been themed “Public Servant Appreciation Night.” The menu is barbecue, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad and homemade ice cream. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 8. A special invitation is extended to all members of the police, sheriff, fire and rescue squad units. As always, everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the fellowship and the free meal, a spokesman said.
New time, series set
Beginning Wednesday, Union City First Assembly of God’s Wednesday night services will begin at 6. The Rev. Tommy Hall will also begin a new teaching series, “King David, Israel’s Psalmist.” Everyone is invited.

Gospel singing slated
Bethel Baptist Church’s monthly gospel singing will be Saturday at 5 p.m. A fellowship meal will follow and all who attend are invited to bring a dish and enjoy the music, food and fellowship.

Block party planned
Union City First Assembly of God will host a block party with the theme “Free Indeed” Sunday. The message at morning worship services at 8:30 and 10:30 will be “Blessed Is the Nation,” with a patriotic emphasis. At 4 p.m., the fun will get under way with fireworks, inflatables, a cookout and a car show.
The community is invited to attend worship and the afternoon activities, all of which are free, according to the pastor, the Rev. Tommy Hall. The church is located at 1810 Pleasant Valley Ave.
God-Country service set
Bible Baptist Church, located at 1397 Highway 51 between Union City and Troy, will have a God and Country emphasis Sunday, with the congregation gathering at 10 and 11 a.m. The Rev. Charles Smith, the congregation’s founding preacher, will also preach at 2 p.m. A meal will be served between services and the community is invited to attend.
To celebrate homecoming
Jacksonville Free Will Baptist Church, located at 202 College St. in South Fulton, will celebrate homecoming Sunday at 3 p.m. The speaker will be the Rev. Ron Smith and he will be joined by his congregation from New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Union City.
A meal will be served at 1:30 p.m. or upon the arrival of the guests.
The community is invited to attend, according to the pastor, the Elder James Watford.
Worship rally planned
Old Bethlehem Baptist Church on Old Bethlehem Road, just off the Highway 45 Bypass near Rutherford, will sponsor a “Saul 2 Paul” worship rally July 9-10 at 6 each evening.

VBS to begin
Troy United Methodist Church will host “Galactic Blast: A Cosmic Adventure Praising God” for the annual Vacation Bible School adventure Monday through July 9 from 6-8:30 each evening.
The church is located on the square in downtown Troy and the community is invited to “board the starship Galactic Praise to see our awesome universe – and our awesome God — in a whole new way.” Each galactic mission will include a Bible story in the Good News Galaxy, along with science activities at the Orbital Observatory, music at Moons and Tunes, art projects at Cosmic Crafts, games at Rocket Rec and a snack at the Astro Bistro.
