Assault charged

A Union City teenager was charged with assault following an alleged argument that escalated into an altercation with a knife Tuesday night.
The 14-year-old, whose name has not been disclosed by police, was charged with aggravated assault and vandalism through juvenile court, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police were summoned about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday to a Nash Street residence in reference to a juvenile with a knife allegedly threatening his brother.
According to the report, an incident that apparently started as an argument over a hat and a dog escalated to the 14-year-old allegedly getting a kitchen knife and cutting his older brother’s clothes, then swinging the knife at his brother in an alleged attempt to cut him.
No injuries were reported.
