Jackets dominate Middleton in first 2010 outing
Jackets dominate Middleton in first 2010 outing | Greenfield Yellowjackets, 2010 football, Middleton Tigers, Kadeem McDonald, Dalton Potts, Jason Rodehaver, Tyler Jones, Cody Worley, Stephen Sawyers, Tennessee

Mother Nature was about the only thing that slowed down the Greenfield Yellowjackets in their first 2010 preseason scrimmage.
Lightning brought an early end to the scrimmage which saw the host Yellowjackets outscore the visiting Middleton Tigers, two touchdowns to none.
“I was very pleased with our effort for our first scrimmage,” Greenfield head coach Jason Rodehaver said. “We got off to a slow start, but once we figured out what they were doing, we held them.”
Senior Kadeem McDonald was a pace setter on both sides of the ball, playing aggressively from his linebacker position and cutting and burning his way through the Middleton defense as the Jackets’ primary running back.
“He can do it all. Kadeem did a good job today at outside linebacker for us, and I can’t say enough about how he ran the ball today,” Rodehaver added.
On the very first snap of the afternoon, McDonald combined with safety Dalton Potts to drop the Tiger ball carrier for a one-yard loss. In the 10-play format,  Middleton made it just across mid field on its ninth play, but a sack on the final play pushed them back into Tiger territory.
Greenfield’s first 10 plays also didn’t go smoothly. Brady Medling caught a Potts pass on the first snap, but the drive mostly stayed inside the GHS 30-yard line. A 16-yard McDonald run and a 21-yard catch and run by Cody Worley highlighted the first drive.
Middleton’s second 10 plays saw them stuck inside their 25-yard line.
Greenfield’s second possession included a big 23-yard run by Potts to help set up McDonald’s tackle-breaking, spinning 29-yard touchdown run.
Under increased pressure from the GHS defense, the Tigers struggled with the center-QB exchange and again were stuck inside their own 25-yard line.
McDonald found a hole in the line and raced 70 yards to score in the final GHS varsity possession.
“It’s been a while since we’ve had a 70-yard touchdown run,” the Greenfield coach reveled.
Stephen Sawyers also added some nice runs and Worley and Tyler Jones came up with key receptions in the possession. The trio, along with Potts for his passing, earned praise from Rodehaver after the storm-shortened scrimmage.
