Gospel sing set
A benefit gospel singing and chili supper will be held Saturday at Ohio Valley Baptist Church in Ledbetter, Ky. Chili will be served from 4-6 p.m., with The Moreheads and The Hamptons singing from 6-8.
A love offering will be accepted for the family of Austin Crouch.

Prayer session slated
First Baptist Church in Union City, located at 500 East Church St., will continue its monthly prayer session Sunday at 9:15 a.m., prior to the Sunday school hour, in the congregation’s old sanctuary.
This month’s topic will be “Outreach and Getting Our Eyes on Jesus.”
Dr. Herman DeBoard will deliver the morning and evening messages at the church.
Morning worship begins at 10:45, with evening worship at 6.

To mark anniversary
Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church will be observing their pastor, the Rev. John Melvin Brooks’, seventh anniversary Sunday.   
Mitchell Churchwell of Union City will be the morning guest speaker.
Afternoon services will begin at 3, with the Rev. Daniel Donaldson and the New Salem Missionary Baptist Church of Humboldt as guests. 
Lunch will be served between services.  
Everyone is invited to attend these and all services.

To honor pastor
Brown Chapel AME Church at 801 East College St. in Union City will honor their pastor, the Rev. Clay Holiday Sr., at the annual Appreciation Day Sunday.
The Rev. Cecil Maddox will preach at 11 a.m. and the Rev. Ron Smith of New Hope Baptist Church in Union City will be the 3 p.m. speaker.
A meal will be served at 11 a.m.
The public is invited to attend.

Gospel music featured
Wynnburg Baptist Church will host a gospel singing program Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. at the church.
Blessed Assurance, Living Truth and the VanCleave Trio will be featured at the benefit to assist the Warren Douglas family.
The community is invited to attend.

Friend-Family Day set
Mount Zion Church of Christ in the Shawtown community will celebrate Friend and Family Day  Sunday, with Bible class at 10 a.m., worship at 11 and a noon fellowship meal in the fellowship hall.
Following the lunch, there will be an hour of worship in song, with congregational singing to begin at 1:30 p.m. Mount Zion song directors will conduct.
William Denman, minister for the church, will bring the lesson at 11 a.m.
Everyone is invited to share in this special event, a spokesman said.

Fish fry planned
Manna Ministries, located at 4001 Ken-Tenn Highway near Union City, is hosting a free fish fry at the church Saturday from noon-2 p.m.
The Rev. Ruth Green and the congregation want to honor the local police department and sheriff’s office, as well as city officials.
“We are doing this as a way of bringing people together, and all are welcome,” a spokesman said.
