The Big Cypress Tree Fall Festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010. This year’s festival will feature Reelfoot Lake’s famous Birds of Prey program, Scott Shupe’s World of Reptiles, and a new band from Columbia, Missouri named “CurreyKorn.” Other festival attractions include the many arts and crafts vendors, Project Graduation food and the civil war soldiers who will be present.  
The festival will open at 9 a.m.  Arts and crafts will be ready to do business at 9 and will be open for business until 3 p.m.  
At 10 a.m., the first animal program will begin – “The World of Reptiles” presented by award winning naturalist Scott Shupe.  This program is 40 minutes of exciting, entertaining and educational programming by one of the nation’s leading naturalists. Enjoyed by all ages, this program features live reptiles.
At 11 a.m., “Curreykorn” will begin playing.  Curreykorn is an energetic and upbeat family bluegrass band from Columbia, Mo.  David and Nancy Currey and their five kids provide a lively blend of traditional and contemporary bluegrass, as well as gospel, roots country and old-time fiddle.  
At 12 noon, Reelfoot Lake will present their popular Birds of Prey program. This program is always very entertaining and exciting.  At a previous Big Cypress Tree Fall Festival, one of the birds escaped his handler and flew into the trees where he spent the night before luckily being recaptured the next evening and returned to Reelfoot. Features live hawks, owls, and an eagle.
Then at 1, Curreykorn will return with more live music. Scott Shupe will repeat his reptile show at 1:45 with Curreykorn returning for one last time at 2:30. The festival will close at 3 p.m.
The public is invited bring the whole family and come check out the festival.  Admission is free.  Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a stress-free few hours of fun at the local park, Big Cypress Tree State Natural Area.  
The park is located 5 miles west of Greenfield on Hwy. 445.  Just follow the signs on Hwy. 45E just north of Greenfield to the park.
