OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE – Janet Bonar, University of Tennessee at Martin Department of Agriculture, Geosciences, and Natural Resources program resource specialist, received the non-exempt UT Martin Fall 2010 Outstanding Employee Award recently presented by Dr. Jerald Ogg, vice chancellor for academic affairs. The award, which recognizes outstanding service to the university, is presented each fall and spring semester to two employees. Included as part of her nomination were comments such as, “With the merger of geosciences with the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Janet acquired six new faculty and staff to ‘care for’ in addition to the growing number of geosciences majors and minors with all the accompanying demands and needs. Janet is the best recruiting tool our department has … . Prospective students and their parents are Janet’s specialty. She has a way of making them feel they’ve made the right decision to come to UT Martin. In addition, Janet was the one who built the administrative structure from the ‘ground up’ for the (Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources) Parker Chair of Excellence during its formative years, and that structure is still accomplishing the Parker Chair’s goals today.”
