Nearly one year later, Troy E.W. James reopens

E. W. James and Sons Supermarkets CEO Lee Ann James announced this week that the new Troy store location is open for business and will be celebrating a grand re-opening during the first two weeks of November.
“We are extremely happy to offer this new and larger facility to the Troy area, and are pleased with the appearance of it.
“We’ve also re-opened our Subway store inside the grocery store and are looking forward to operating in a much bigger space,” James noted.
A fire on Halloween night a year ago changed the lives of all of the employees and customers of E. W. James  The original structure was lost to flames, and quick action by the staff and the town of Troy put groceries back on the shelf at the temporary location in the old NAPA building on Bright Street.
“We put as many items as we could get into that little store,” said Ken Pink, President and COO of E. W. James. “We moved meat in from our Union City location, and put a Subway store in an area of less than 400 square feet,” he added.
Brandon Deere, Store Manager of the Troy location, said that customers were enjoying the new store space, and that they were still in a process of fine tuning the store.
“We tell the customer to let us know what they want in the store, and we’re trying to get it.  After all, it is where they shop.”
He added that the new store features a full service meat department as well as a newly expanded Bakery & Deli operation.
“Even the Subway store is larger and more customer friendly” said Deere.
Steve Hilton, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the company said that plans are in place for twoweeks of celebration for the grand re-open of the Troy location.
“We’re going to have a company-wide buy one, get one sale that all the stores will be doing for the first week. That will be followed with a special sale for the Troy store customers the following week, with some great prizes lined up.”
Plans are for the official ribbon cutting at the store at 9 a.m. on Nov. 5 for both E. W. James and the new Subway.
