Orchestra featured in concert

Dyersburg State Community College will host the annual Home for the Holidays concert presented by the Memphis Symphony Orchestra Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the E.H. Lannom Jr. Gymnasium on the Dyersburg campus. This year’s special guest soloist for the evening will be Ashley Brown. As a concert artist, she has performed with many of the most prestigious orchestras in the U.S., including the Boston Pops (with Keith Lockhart), the New York Philharmonic (with Marvin Hamlisch), the Pittsburgh Symphony opposite Shir-ley Jones (with Marvin Hamlisch), the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, the Cincinnati Pops (with Erich Kunzel), the Indianapolis Symphony (twice with Jack Everly) and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra (with John Mauceri) at Disney Hall. In addition, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra Chor-us and the University of Memphis Singers, under the direction of Dr. Lawrence Edwards, will join in. One of the concert highlights will be the traditional holiday sing-a-long, which will take place near the end of the program. Tickets are now available for purchase at the business office in the Eller Building on the Dyersburg campus. Tickets are $35 for priority seating, $15 for adults and $5 for students.They will also be available for purchase at the door the evening of the performance.
