Pvt. Jacob Thomas Milam of South Fulton recently completed training with the United States Army as a Cavalry Scout at Fort Knox, Ky. The 16-week program of one station unit training included Basic Soldiering Skills and Advanced Individual Training. Primarily field combined with classroom training, Calvary Scouts are designed to be the eyes and ears for the commander on the battlefield. Milam was with the Delta Troop, 5th Squadron, 15th Calvary, 3rd Platoon Predators while at Fort Knox. He is stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and is a part of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Calvary Division. He is the son of Dale and Lisa Hollowell of South Fulton and Richard and Sherry Milam of Sharon. He is the grandson of Kay Usery of Dresden, the late Ronnie Travis of Martin, Mary Milam of Greenfield, the late Frank Milam of Sharon and J.W. and Patsy Hollowell of Huntingdon.
