Unity Ministries will be sponsoring the annual Thanksgiving meal, open to anyone in the community, on Thanksgiving Day in the fellowship hall at Rutherford First Baptist Church beginning at noon.
Soul Food Café opens
Exchange Street Church of Christ will host Soul Food Café Dec. 1 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the church at 420 Exchange St. in Union City. This month’s menu includes pork loin, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, rolls and desserts. Santa Claus will also be there, with Mrs. Claus and Rudolph. Everyone is welcome and the meal is free.
Hanging of the Green set
Union City First United Methodist Church will celebrate Advent with the annual Hanging of the Green service Sunday at 6 p.m. at the church, located at 420 East Main St. in Union City. A candlelight wassail reception will follow the meaningful service in the church’s family life center. The community is invited to attend and those sharing the special event are reminded to bring new toys to donate to Reelfoot Rural Ministries Toy Store. The gifts are to be left unwrapped and donors are asked to mark through the barcode with indelible black markers before donating the gifts.

Music program planned
Second Baptist Church, located at 831 Everett Blvd., will host a concert Sunday at 6 p.m. featuring The Keathleys, The Tittles and Brotherhood. A love offering will be accepted.
The Rev. Eddie Mallonee and the congregation invite the community to attend.
A Thanksgiving Eve service is set for today at 7 at Faith Lutheran Church at 2012 East Reelfoot Ave. in Union City. The community is invited to attend for worship and the giving of thanks for blessings God has bestowed.
Advent services will be held at the church beginning Wednesday nights on Dec. 1. A light meal will be served at 5:30 each evening and worship will begin at 7.
