Special music planned
John Easley will be directing the sanctuary choir at Union City First United Methodist Church, located at 420 East Main St., Sunday at 10:50 a.m. for the presentation of “Night of the Father’s Love: The Awe and Mystery of God With Us.” Accompanist will be Delana Easley and narrators will be David and Paula Houston.
The community is invited to attend.
The Rev. Stan Waldon is pastor and the Rev. Scott Smyth is associate pastor.

Events set at church
Rutherford First Baptist Church choir and cast will present their Christmas musical titled “O Holy Night” Sunday at 11 a.m. This event was rescheduled.
The children’s ministry will present a Christmas musical, “Away in a Manger,” Sunday at 6 p.m. Following the musical, the congregation will observe the annual candlelight service. Everyone is invited to attend.

Lutherans to celebrate
“Every year Christmas seems to get busier and filled with more activities and the true reason of Christmas can get lost,” says a spokesman for Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at 203 North First St. in downtown Union City. “Jesus was born on Christmas for the purpose of saving us from all of our sins. It’s truly something to be thankful for and celebrate. Join us in celebrating the meaning of Christmas this year. We invite you to an old-fashioned candlelight service Christmas Eve at 6, across from Charlie T’s. Refreshments will be served.”

Program canceled
The annual live nativity scene offered to the community by Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church has been canceled, according to a spokesman.

Church celebrates birth
First Church of God in Hickman, Ky., will celebrate the birth of Jesus in a special program Monday at 6:30 p.m. The community is invited to “come celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.”
Providing music will be Randy Spillers, Bob Macklin and Donnie Morris.
Refreshments will be served after the program. Santa will be there, too, a spokesman said.

Nativity scene set
The annual live nativity scene will be presented on the west lawn of Calvary Baptist Church at 2250 East Reelfoot Ave. in Union City Tuesday through Dec. 23 from 6-8 nightly. The community is invited to drive through or park and get a closer view of the animals and characters of the live nativity scene and share in the real meaning of Christmas.  The Rev. Melvin Poe is pastor.

Cantata rescheduled
Reelfoot Baptist Church’s cantata, “He Has Come,” has been rescheduled and will be presented Sunday at 6 p.m. at the church at 1926 West Highway 22 near Union City.
Joe Ray Wheat is music director and the Rev. Scott Fields is pastor. They join the congregation in inviting the community to attend.

To present special music
Union City Second Baptist Church will present “Because It’s Christmas,” a special celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, Saturday at 7:15 p.m. and  Sunday at 6 p.m. at the church at 831 North Everett Blvd. Barry Keathley will direct an 85-voice choir and there will also be presentations by the handbell choir, youth vocal ensembles, the children’s choirs and various soloists, trios and quartets.
There is no charge and a nursery will be provided.
The Rev. Eddie Mallonee is pastor.

Phelps to sing
Well-known Christian recording artist David Phelps of the Gaither Vocal Band will present a concert Monday at 7 p.m. at Union City Second Baptist Church, located at 831 North Everett Blvd.
Tickets are $25 for the Gold Circle and $20 for general admission and are available at the church and at Five Seasons Men’s Shop in Union City.
The Rev. Eddie Mallonee and the congregation invite the community to attend.
