Pedestrians hit near SF

Posted: Friday, February 11, 2011 9:02 pm

Associate Editor
Two people out having fun in the snow ended up in the hospital after being struck by a vehicle Thursday evening.
Elizabeth Pyle, 47, of South Fulton, who was in critical but stable condition, was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center (the Med), while 4-year-old Brody Robertson of South Fulton was in stable condition after being airlifted to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis.
Tennessee Highway Patrol officials reported the two were injured near 3806 Old Love Road near South Fulton. The Obion County Sheriff’s Department received the call at 4:58 p.m.
According to the THP report, the two had been sledding and were attempting to cross the roadway at the bottom of the hill. At the same time, Jerry Warmath of South Fulton was traveling north on Old Love Road. When he topped the hill and saw the pedestrians, he applied his brakes and his vehicle slid down the hill to the east side of the roadway.
Ms. Pyle and Robertson attempted to move out of the vehicle’s path, but because the vehicle was in a slide, they actually ran into its path.
The Twin Cities Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
