7 linked to drive-by shooting

Posted: Thursday, February 17, 2011 9:00 pm

Seven people have been charged in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred earlier this month in Fulton County, Ky.
Deputies from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, assisted by Fulton police, served a search warrant Tuesday afternoon at the home of Michael McKnight at 1001 Airport Road, Apt. 4, in Fulton in connection with the Feb. 1 shooting.
Grand jury indictment warrants were served on both Michael McKnight and Robert “Max” McKnight, charging each of them with conspiracy to commit murder, according to a press release from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department.
At the same time, South Fulton police officers arrested Max McKnight’s wife, Andrea McKnight, on a grand jury indictment warrant on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder in the same case. She is being held in the Obion County Law Enforcement Complex awaiting a hearing in regard to being extradited to Fulton County.
A total of seven suspects were charged with either conspiracy to commit murder or attempted murder in connection with the shooting incident.
Four additional arrests were made Wednesday when Fulton County authorities were notified that Weakley County authorities had first picked up Jonathan Winston on a warrant for attempted murder and DeAnna Macyauski for conspiracy to commit murder, followed later in the day by the arrests of Karla Dean and Trey Dean. All were awaiting extradition to Fulton County.
Evidence gathered at the scene of the shooting and from a vehicle owned by Michael McKnight, along with witness statements, resulted in the Fulton County grand jury’s returning warrants of indictments on the seven suspects in the case.
Additionally, evidence gathered both at the scene and from the car resulted in a search warrant being requested for Michael McKnight’s residence, where additional evidence was seized, according to the sheriff’s department. Some evidence has already been forwarded to the Kentucky State Police’s Central Crime Lab and authorities said additional evidence being collected will also be forwarded.
The reasons for the shooting are unclear, according to a sheriff’s department spokesman, who said there appears to have been an ongoing feud between some of the individuals at the residence and at least two of the people involved in the shooting.
“Fortunately, no one was killed or injured in the incident,” the spokesman said.
Anyone who has additional information about the shooting is asked to contact the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department at (270) 236-2545.
