Homeowners across the county spend hours, even days, ensuring that holiday wreath is just right or their homes are adorned with twinkling lights.
While they enjoy the holiday decorations themselves, the act of spreading cheer through Christmas yard art is one that is selfless for those who just want to share their spirit with others.
From snowmen to nativity scenes and flashing lights to the soft flicker of candles in a window, the spirit of the season shines through and can be seen throughout the county.
Travelers can make their way to a side street in Greenfield to experience more than 18,000 lights that dance to Christmas music.
Keith and Denise Douglas of Greenfield have decked their home and yard with a blazing mixture of white, green, red and blue lights. As visitors tune their radios to 91.7 FM, they will experience thousands of lights that are synchronized to the melodies on the radio.
The display can be found at 304 Hatcher St. in Greenfield. The Douglas’ neighbor, as well as the homeowner across the street, has also joined in spreading the Christmas cheer with festive outdoor decorations.
As it has been a family tradition for many decades, a home on a country road just outside of Dresden offers visitors a “Merry Christmas from the Scotts” on an oversized greeting card in the front yard. Lights line the perimeter of the Scotts’ country home located at 1021 Old Latham Rd.
Like father like son, the Scott’s son Dennis and his family just around the corner from his parents, has followed suit with the family tradition and offer passersby a glimpse down candy cane lane.
Candy Cane Lane can be seen at 203 Freeman Rd. in Dresden.
Kerry and Dean Barner of Sidonia said they have enjoyed the holiday scenes found at the home of Janet and Max Morgan on Bob Miles Road in Sidonia for 20 years and recommends everyone make the trip to see the display.
There are rumors circulating that this will be the last year the Morgans feature their annual display at 541 Bob Miles Rd. just outside of Sidonia.
Several residents along Hwy. 89 in Sidonia have followed in the footsteps of their community neighbors and offer a feast for the eyes.
From Dresden to Greenfield to Sidonia and everywhere in between and along the way, those who share their joy with complete strangers through holiday decorating light the way for the beginning as well as continuing family traditions.
