The Sons of Confederate Veterans local camp 176 will meet Sunday at 2 p.m. at Obion County Museum on Edwards Street in Union City. Camp commander Ralph Nichols will present at DVD/Power Point program about black Confederates who served in the War for Southern Independence.
The camp website has several additions, including an article about Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest and Fort Pillow that can be found on the home page under the heading “Stainless Banner.”
The SCV works in conjunction with other historical groups to preserve Confederate history. It is not affiliated with any other group. The SCV rejects any group whose actions tarnish or distort the image of the Confederate soldier or his reasons for fighting.
For more information, visit the camp website at scvcamp176.org. Several new audio and video additions can be found there, a spokesman said.
