The Messenger, April 13, 2011 Obion County Central High School’s bands will be featured in an upcoming “Concert in the Park” and fund-raising supper. “Concert in the Park” will be staged Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. on the lawn of Troy First Baptist Church. The OCCHS Concert Band will be performing, as will the OCCHS Jazz Band, percussion ensemble, brass quintet and sax quartet. Students from all four of the Obion County School System’s junior high bands — Hillcrest, Ridgemont, Lake Road and Black Oak — will be performing as well. “We would like to encourage people to bring out their lawn chairs and enjoy the music,” OCCHS Band Boosters president Jill Kelly said. A fund-raising supper will also be held at the same time in conjunction with Troy’s E.W. James & Sons Supermarket. Barbecue plates — including barbecue, baked beans, slaw, potato salad, bread and a cookie, as well as a soft drink compliments of Coca-Cola™ — will be sold for $7 each. To-go plates will be available. Tickets for the band supper may be purchased in advance from any OCCHS band student or at the concert the day of the event.
