Dyersburg State Community College will hold its 41st annual commencement exercises May 7 at 2 p.m. at Dyer County High School in Newbern.
It is expected this will be the largest class in DSCC’s history and it is anticipated degrees or certificates will be conferred on 357 candidates.
Phyllis Tickle, founding editor of the Religion Department of Publishers Weekly, will deliver the commencement address. She is frequently quoted in print sources, including USA Today, Christian Science Monitor and The New York Times, as well as electronic media like PBS, NPR, the Hallmark Channel and numerous blogs and websites. She is an authority on religion in America and lectures nationwide on faith and Christianity.
In addition to lectures and numerous essays, articles and interviews, Ms. Tickle is the author of over two dozen books on religion and spirituality, most recently the best-seller “The Great Emergence” and the just-released “The Words of Jesus.”
A reception to honor DSCC graduates and guests will be held afterward.
