Posted: Friday, April 29, 2011 12:02 am

On Saturday, May 7, at 2 p.m., Dyersburg State will hold its 41st annual commencement exercises at Dyer County High School.  The college expects this will be the largest class in its history as it anticipates degrees and /or certificates will be conferred on 357 candidates.
Phyllis Tickle, founding editor of the Religion Department of Publisher’s Weekly, will deliver the commencement address.  Tickle is frequently quoted in print sources including USA Today, Christian Science Monitor and the New York Times as well as in electronic media like PBS, NPR, The Hallmark Channel, and innumerable blogs and web sites.
She is an authority on religion in America and lectures nationwide on faith and Christianity.
In addition to lectures and numerous essays, articles, and interviews, Tickle is the author of over two dozen books in religion and spirituality, most recently The Great Emergence, How Christianity is Changing and Why and The Words of Jesus, A Gospel of the Sayings of Our Lord.
A reception to honor graduates and their guests will be held immediately following Commencement.  To find out more information about graduation please contact J Dan Gullett at 731/286-3327.
