UC council to meet

The Union City city council will meet Tuesday evening at 5:30 in the courtroom of the Union City Municipal Building for a public hearing, followed by the regular monthly meeting.
At the public hearing, there will be a discussion of an ordinance titled “Ordinance to Provide for a Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance for the City of Union City… amended so as to amend the official zoning map of the city to rezone Thomas Jernigan Property and a portion of the Obion Square Shopping Center property located on Edwards Street from R-2 medium density residential to B2 intermediate business.”
The regular meeting agenda includes an approval of minutes from the May 3 meeting; a bid presentation and action for the demolition of 1309-11 Lone Oak St.; an ordinance to amend an ordinance by rezoning the Jernigan property and a portion of the Obion Square Shopping Center; a presentation and consideration of an engagement letter and contract from ATA for audit year 2011; a presentation and consideration of the engineering agreement from Wauford Engineering for the replacement of the Shorty Shields Wastewater Pumping Station; a request for approval of job descriptions for wastewater plant operators 1 and 2 and a wastewater treatment plant foreman 2; recommendations for Church Street from a police report; presentation and consideration of a letter of resignation from Bill Bell as director of the water plant; and consideration of various bills. Visitors will also be recognized for the hearing of grievances and/or complaints.
Public meetings are regularly held the first and third Tuesdays of each month and all sessions are open to the public.
