OC museum support sought through sale of coloring books

Posted: Wednesday, May 25, 2011 9:40 pm

Supporters of the Obion County Museum are hard at work raising funds to keep the museum up and running.
One of the projects members say they are most excited about is a museum coloring book, which is priced at $2. All of the elements in the coloring book can be found inside the museum.
This coloring book encourages children to be artistic and also teaches them historical facts about this region and the country. The artwork was completed by Alton Wallace and Marti Doss, and the book is sponsored by Union City Coca-Cola.
“Children often times find it fun and exciting to search for the items found in the coloring book while visiting the museum,” a spokesman said.
Museum supporters will be set up inside the local Big Lots store on South First Street in Union City Saturday at 9 a.m. to sell promotional items such as T-shirts, the coloring book and other items.
The Obion County Museum is located at 1004 Edwards St. in Union City and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Weekend hours are Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Museum admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students.
