Church Fest slated
Iglesia Juan 3:16, located at 1002 North Clover St. in Union City, will host the first Church Fest event all day Saturday. There will be food, prizes, games and more. The community is invited to attend.

Car wash planned
Obion First United Methodist Church will sponsor a car wash Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Obion Fire Department. Funds raised will go to support youth ministry, a spokesman said. Donations will be accepted. For more information, call 536-6037 or 536-4759.

To host gospel meeting
Berea Church of Christ, located on State Highway 216 between Rives and the Mount Pelia community, will host a gospel meeting Wednesday through June 19. Chris Herd of Toomwomba, Australia, will be the speaker.
The song service will be directed by men of the congregation.
Evening services will be at 7, with Sunday services at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Bikers’ Day slated
Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located at 880 Beech Chapel Road near Union City, will host Bikers Day Sunday, and they are issuing a special invitation to everyone who has a motorcycle, restored vehicle or ATV. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m., followed by worship at 11 and a noon meal of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs.
Dr. Bobby Williams and the congregation invite the community, and especially bikers, to join them.

Lovett to preach
The Rev. Wayne Lovett, associate pastor of High Springs Church of God near Fort White, Fla., will minister in word and song Sunday at 11 a.m. at Graves Chapel Church of God, located 5 1/2 miles outside Troy. Take Highway 21 West out of Troy and turn onto 112 Luther Davis Road.
The Rev. William Matheny and the congregation invite the community to join them.

Special event planned
Bells Chapel CME Church, located at 207 North Highland Drive in Fulton, will host the annual Women’s Day celebration 11 a.m. Sunday, with Sheryl Thomas, a member of the church, as the speaker. Elder Lucille Hayes of Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Wingo, Ky., will be the afternoon speaker at 3. Elder Martha Granger and the congregation invite the community to join them.

 Food pantry open
Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church’s One For All food pantry will be open Tuesday. Those taking part will be asked to provide proof of identity, proof of residency and proof of income. The church is located at 1422 Pleasant Valley Ave. in Union City.

Unspoken Concert set
First Assembly of God will host a concert by Unspoken Sunday at 5 p.m. Beginning as a two-person acoustic band in the Dominican Republic, Unspoken has now grown to a five-member band that travels around the United States opening for many Christian artists, including TobyMac, Casting Crowns, Third Day and many more. In addition to performing at the concert, Unspoken will also be leading worship during the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. services.
First Assembly of God is located at 1810 Pleasant Valley Ave. in Union City.

Ladies event slated
“Come join the local ladies for the monthly Ken-Tenn women’s luncheon with the program theme Remembering Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Ole West Steakhouse at 943 Main St. in Martin,” a spokesman said. “Summer is here, the temperature is rising, so meet with us for a ‘cool lunch’ with Gina Barger from Greenfield as the special feature speaker. Her presentation, ‘Remember Us When Remodeling,’ will provide new ideas and trends in the decorating field. She represents the Marble Shop in Greenfield. Our own Maurine Hickman will be entertaining us with ‘Remembering When’ tunes.  I’m sure you’ll recognize her choices.”
Local members  will present the feature part of the monthly program. They will share memories with, “A Time To Remember.”

McClanahan to speak
The Rev. Walter McClan-ahan will be in the pulpit at Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located at 631 East Church St., Sunday.  His sermon title is “Two Days’ Pay.”
McClanahan is from Humboldt and he and his wife, Jo Ann, are ordained ministers who graduated from seminary in St. Paul, Minn.
He began his ministry in another denomination before being ordained in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he currently serves as administrator to the Board of Missions.
 The McClanahans have three adult children and four grandchildren. They live on their family farm and grow a garden. He has also owned and operated a business in Humboldt for 39 years.
The public is invited to join the congregation for Sunday morning study, worship and fellowship. There is a prayer session at 9:15 a.m., followed by Sunday school at 10, Holy Grounds coffee fellowship at 10:40 and worship at 11. The worship service is broadcast live on WOBT-TV locally.

Yard sale planned
Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, located at 1422 Pleasant Valley Ave. in Union City, will sponsor a yard sale Saturday from 8 a.m.-noon at the church. Funds raised will go to Reelfoot Rural Ministries for mission outreach and assistance.

Gospel meeting slated
Church of Christ-Troy Road, located at 701 Troy Road near Obion, will host a gospel meeting June 19-23.
On June 19, Julian Robinson will speak on “What Should We Know About the Emergent Church?” at 11a.m. and George Coleman will address the question “What Makes the Church Distinct From the World?” at 3. There will be a luncheon from 1-2:15 that day.
On June 20, Larry Prince will kick-off four nights of preaching at 7:30 each evening with “Spiritual Warfare and the Church.”
Brent Arnold will address the question “Is the Church Losing Her Salt?” June 21, with Roger Jones preaching June 22 on “Religious Tolerance and the Church” and Charles Taylor closing out the services on June 23 with “Unity in the Church or Unity With the World?”
Terence L. Mannis is the minister. The public is invited to attend.

Donations sought
Donations are being sought for the maintenance fund for Old Campground Cemetery on Campground Road near Troy.
The association has not been in a “perpetual care state” for some time, according to a spokesman, who added that Dwight Baggett serves as an excellent caretaker. The campground is one of the oldest in the county.

House of Prayer Pente-costal Church in Fulton is hosting a yard sale in the congregation’s family center at 105 West State Line Road in South Fulton Saturday at 8 a.m.

PandaMania™ to begin
Exchange Street Church of Christ, located at 420 Exchange St. in Union City, is inviting children from 2 years old to those who have just completed fifth grade to a special event, “PandaMania: Where God Is Wild About You” from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Monday through Wednesday.
The summer event will allow children to explore a bamboo forest filled with crazy pandas as they discover that God loves each person.
They will participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing “catchy” songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into “yummy” treats, experience “electrifying” Bible adventures and create Bible Point crafts to take home and enjoy all summer.
Children will also learn to look for evidence of God all around them through “God Sightings.”
Each day will conclude with a Rowdy Wrap-Up, a celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they have learned.
Family members and friends — better known as “Very Important Pandas” — are invited to join the children at 11 each morning.

Decoration Day set
Minnick Bible Church will host Decoration Day Sunday, with Sunday school at 10 and worship at 11, followed by a meal in the fellowship hall. At 1:30, the Minnick Cemetery Association will have a meeting. The public is invited to attend.

To honor minister
Highway 45 Church of Christ near South Fulton will observe the congregation’s annual Minister Appreciation Day June 19. Mark Rowe from Ninth Street Church of Christ in Paducah, Ky., will be the guest speaker that morning at 11, with Sunday school at 10. Lunch will be served following the service. The Christian Unity Seekers from Memphis will perform at the afternoon service at 3.
Thomas Todd is the minister and R.C. Nunley is the assistant.

VBS to begin
Vacation Bible School will begin at Church Grove Baptist Church at 1061 West Main St. in Newbern Monday through June 17 from 6-8 each evening.
“Sailing on the High Seas” with Captain Huck will be the theme and there will be many pirates searching for lost souls, plus a treasure hunt. Early sign-up will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the church. At that event, there will be games, food and fun, plus boat rides.
