Revival set
 Shady Grove United Methodist Church near Union City will begin a four-night revival July 10 and continue through July 13.
On July 10, services will begin at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Joe Thorn preaching. Finger foods will be served following the service.
Week night services will begin at 7, with Thorn preaching on July 11, the Rev. Terry Presson on July 12 and the Rev. John Archer on July 13. Refreshments will be served after the final service.
 Song leaders will be Buddy and Catherine Roberts, and Jane Moore will be pianist.
 
Free car wash set
Impact Children’s Min-istry will be showing the love of Christ by washing cars for free. As part of the “Love-in-Action” week, Impact children from Union City’s First Assembly of God will be at Terry Petty’s car dealership on East Reelfoot Avenue in Union City Friday from 5-8 p.m. to perform this service. No donations will be accepted since the goal of “Love-in-Action” week is to show the love of Christ in a practical way.

CP services set
Sunday services at Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located at 631 East Church St., will begin with prayer  at 9:30 a.m., followed by Sunday school at 10, “Holy Grounds” coffee fellowship at 10:40 and worship at 11. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Mike Osment, director of pastoral care at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City and Humboldt.
Married 32 years, Osment and his wife served in Taiwan for 15 years. He pastored churches in North Carolina, Mississippi and Taiwan and started three new Chinese congregations of Christians while in Taiwan. His younger daughter is now working overseas in Taipei, Taiwan, after graduating from the University of Tennessee in 2010.  His older daughter  is a student at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
He has served in the Baptist Hospital system for seven years and has recently started a “caregivers support group” at BMH for help to families in need of assistance. His sermon will be titled “An Ever-Present Savior,” based on John 1:43-50.
The community is invited to attend.

Benefit singing set
There will be a benefit singing to assist Henry Quarles, lead singer with Gospel Golden Aires, at The Church of Jesus for All at 7 p.m. July 7. The church is located on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Union City and the pastor is the Rev. Harry Hayes.
Groups taking part in the event will include the Rev. Tony Ward and the Redeemers from Nashville, Reunited of Bolivar, The McKenzie Aires of McKenzie, The Holy Light of Huntingdon and a new group of young people called The Golden Angels of Union City.
The Gospel Golden Aires are sponsoring the event.

VBS set for one day
A one-day Vacation Bible School is planned for July 9 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Liberty Worship Center Church of God of Prophecy at 120 Forestdale St. in South Fulton. Children from 5-14 years old are invited to attend and enjoy games, food, videos, lessons and more while studying topics such as obeying God’s word and getting answers to questions such as: “What is faith?” “What is the ‘armor of God’?” and “What is forgiveness?”

To mark homecoming
Jacksonville Freewill Baptist Church, located at 202 College St. in South Fulton, will celebrate homecoming Sunday, with the Rev. Anthony Johnson and his congregation from Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Oakton, Ky., as special guests. A meal will be served at 1:30, when they arrive, and Johnson will speak at the afternoon service following the meal.
Elder James Watford and the congregation invite the community to attend.

Gospel meeting slated
Main Street Church of Christ, located at 508 South Main St. in Troy, will host a gospel meeting July 10-13, with Mike McDaniel of Caruthersville, Mo., as the guest speaker. William Denmon will be song leader. On July 10, Sunday Bible Class will begin at 10, followed by morning worship at 10:45. Evening services for the gospel meeting will be at 7:30.

Café to serve
Exchange Street Church of Christ will be hosting Soul Food Café Wednesday, starting at 5:30 p.m. The menu will feature barbecued pork shoulder, baked beans, cole slaw, chips, desserts and drinks. As always, the meal is free and everyone is welcome, according to a spokesman.

Choir workshop offered
Damon Gentry will present “2011 Music on a Mission Choir Workshop” Tuesday through July 9 in Union City. Gospel recording artists Kendra Carr, Denzel Bester, United Voices of Annointance and more will be featured.
On Tuesday, the workshop will begin at 6 p.m. at Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ, with Elder Richard Johnson as the host pastor for the event. On Wednesday, the workshop will move to New Hope Free Will Baptist Church at the same time and will continue there July 7. Choirs will return to Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ July 8, and on July 9, there will be a concert at that location — 805 East Gibbs St. The community is invited to attend.

Homecoming slated
Shiloh Missionary Bap-tist Church at 606 Melrose St. in Union City will celebrate homecoming Sunday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Devon Cunningham will be the speaker. His congregation from Fuller Street Church in Dresden will be special guests. The Rev. John Brooks invites the community to attend.
