UTM’s CJ Estelle
on return watch list

CJ Estelle, a punt returner on The Univer-sity of Tennessee at Martin Skyhawk football team, has been named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) preseason watch list for punt returners.
Estelle, who also played defensive back for the Skyhawks, re-turned 17 punts for 195 yards in 2010. He had a 50-yard punt return against Austin Peay and a 46-yard return against Tennessee State. He ranked second in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 13.9-yard average punt return.
The CFPA list highlights players whose performance merits recognition heading into the 2011 season.
The purpose of the CFPA is to provide the most significantly rigorous conferment in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
The watch lists will include the following categories: quarterback, running back, wide receiver, defensive line, linebacker, defensive back, place kicker, punter, kickoff returner and punt returner.
Along with Estelle, UT Martin’s AJ Williams (kickoff return specialist) Stephen Shiver (wide receiver), Cody Sandlin (place kicker) and Joe Hook (punter) have been named to CFPA’s Watch Lists for their respective positions.

New Vol hoop coach
will help with USA

KNOXVILLE (AP) — Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin will serve as an assistant coach for the USA national team at the World University Games in China in August.
Martin will join former boss and current Purdue coach Matt Painter, who will be the USA team’s head coach, and Butler coach Brad Stevens will serve as another assistant.
He says he’s honored and excited about the opportunity to represent the United States and thinks the experience will help him become a better coach.
The coaches will spend 10 days in Colorado Springs, Colo., working with 19 Division I players vying for a spot on the 12-man roster.
Among those players is Vanderbilt guard John Jenkins, Kentucky guard Darius Miller and Alabama forward Tony Mitchell.
The World University Games are Aug. 13-22 in Shenzhen, China.
