Special interest classes offered

Several special-interest non-credit courses will be offered on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus by the Office of Extended Campus and Online Studies.
R.A.D. β Rape Aggression Defense/Self Defense Program for Women, a free course, is slated for 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 12-13. The instructor will be Terry Guthrie, certified instructor in R.A.D. Basic Physical Defense. The cornerstone of R.A.D. Systems, this course has its foundations in education and awareness. The course includes lecture, discussion and self defense techniques, suitable for women (only) of all ages and abilities. This course requires two days for basic level self-defense. Each student will receive a certificate of completion. The class is being offered to the general public along with UT Martin students or staff interested in learning more about personal self-defense.
The Making Sense of the ACT β ACT Prep Course will be offered from 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays from Sept. 24-Oct. 15. The instructor will be Ron Ramage and the fee will be $75, plus the cost of the book, βThe Real ACT Prep Guide,β which can be purchased at the campus bookstore.
