SUPPORTS REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE — Dr. Richard Chesteen, University of Tennessee at Martin professor of political science, whose teaching career has spanned 45 years, was recently honored with a retirement dinner highlighted by the launch of the Richard Chesteen Endowment for Government Internships. The Chesteen Endowment will focus on subsidizing governmental internships for students in multiple disciplines, with the goal of increasing internship opportunities in Washington, D.C. The endowment will be supported by contributions from corporations, alumni and the university community. Among those on hand for the dinner were (from left) Dr. Chesteen, UT Martin Chancellor Tom Rakes, Laura Ray of Jackson, Eli Jones of Bells, Walker Ferrell of Ripley, Department of Management, Marketing and Political Science chair Dr. John Overby and Josh Rainey of Huntingdon. Each of the students plans an internship in Washington, D.C., during 2008.
