Ridgemont’s innings
too much for Cougars

Ridgemont erupted for six runs in the fourth and another half-dozen in the fifth to win for the second time in as many outings Tuesday, 15-2 over Hillcrest, in middle school softball play.
Winning pitcher Sheri-dan Bugg (five strikeouts, one walk), helped herself at the plate with a triple, double and single. Macy Muirhead had an inside-the-park home run and a single, Carly Bramlett doubled and singled and Landry Webster had a two-base hit.
Both Keaton Cooper and Kari O’Steen were involved defensively in double plays for the winners.
For Hillcrest (1-1), Courtney Heuck went 3-for-3 with a triple and both Alaina Walker and Asatin Moore had one hit apiece. McClain Bell was the losing hurler.
The Cougars reported 15 errors in the loss.
Hillcrest plays again Thursday at Dyer.
In a 15-5 victory over Union City, Webster had an inside-the-park home run, Muirhead laced a triple and Kaelyn Puckett had a double.
Bugg was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts.

Cousar leads Twisters
to prep golf triumph

The Union City High School boys’ golf team went on the road Tuesday and won at Ripley by a 174-186 count.
Christian Cousar was the match medalist with a 40 to lead the Tornadoes. Grand Walton was a shot back at 41, Clay Treece came in with a 46, Wesley Hale had a 47 and Parker Dodson finished with a 51.

School-record goals
not enough for SF

Desiray Sturgeon had a pair of penalty kicks for goals and Morgan Kane booted in two more tallies as the Devilettes rallied from a 3-0 deficit for a 4-all haltime tie.
