Soul Food Café serving
Exchange Street Church of Christ in Union City is hosting Soul Food Café 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday. September’s Spotlight is Bingo. The menu is sub sandwiches, salad, nachos and desserts. Everyone is welcome and the meal is free.

Yard sale planned
Bell’s Chapel CME Church, located at 207 North Highland Drive in Fulton, is hosting a yard sale in the church parking lot Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. Table rentals for others wishing to take part is $15. There will lots of items for sale and the community is invited to support the effort.

CP service set
Members of Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church on the corner of East Church and South Home streets will begin Sunday services at the church with prayer at 9:45 a.m. for the congregation, the worship service, the church and the nation. Sunday school will follow at 10, with worship at 11. The latter will be broadcast live on WOBT-TV. Holy Grounds coffee fellowship with coffee, doughnuts and good conversation will take place at 10:40. A nursery is provided for services.
The Rev. James Lawson of Fulton will speak on “Peter Followed Afar Off,” with Matthew 26:57-58 as his text.

‘Bound’ to sing
Bound for Glory will present a gospel music concert Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Oak Street Community Church, located at 1411 Oak St. in Union City. The group is from Florence, Ala., and includes Buck Tennyson, brother of Verdie Scarbrough of Union City, and Chuck and Betty Ray.
The Rev. Wayne McLean and the congregation invite the community to attend. For more information, call (731) 335-4018.

‘Scoop’etition slated
Shady Grove United Methodist Church is sponsoring a “Scoop”etition fund raiser for Reelfoot Rural Ministries Sept. 10 from 1-4 p.m. at Kiwanis Park in downtown Union City. Children 5 years old and younger can eat for free, with those 6-10 years old paying $2 for ice cream. Older children and adults will get a spoon and all the scoops of homemade ice cream they can eat for $4.

Dildines to sing
The Dildines and the Clark Family will sing Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at Dresden United Pentecostal Church. The Rev. Darrell Pollock and the congregation invite the community to attend.

To welcome singers
The Rev. Tommy Roper and the congregation of Star of Bethlehem Assembly of God near Union City will welcome Blessed Assurance from Tiptonville Sept. 17 at 6 p.m. for a gospel music concert. The group includes Hershell and Jean Tittle and Jimmy Leake, who have many years of singing experience and love to “sing for our Jesus,” a spokesman said.

Time changes told
Kenton Church of God, located at 511 West College St., is announcing new Sunday service times, effective this week. Sunday school will be 10-10:45 a.m., with worship at 10:50 and at 6 p.m. On Wednesday, the church will meet at 7 p.m.
