Crime of the Week
Crime Stoppers is seeking clues in a recent robbery on South Taylor Street in Union City.
On Dec. 18, a Union City man told police he was taking his nightly walk down South Taylor Street when he noticed 10 black men coming up behind him. He said as he began to walk a faster pace, they began to gain on him.
The man told police that two of the men who were wearing hooded sweatshirts approached him and asked for a cigarette, but he told them he did not smoke. He said a black gun was then put to his head and his black-colored wallet was taken, according to police.
To provide information about this crime — featured as this week’s second Crime of the Week — or other crimes, call Crime Stoppers at 885-TIPS (885-8477) or e-mail Crime Stoppers at ucpd@ci.unioncity.tn.us. Tips may be worth rewards up to $1,000, according to Union City Police Chief Joe Garner, coordinator of the local Crime Stoppers program.
Callers to Crime Stoppers are guaranteed anonymity.
