CP service set
Members of Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church on the corner of East Church and South Home streets will begin Sunday services at the church with prayer at 9:45 a.m. for the congregation, the worship service, the church and the nation.
Sunday school will follow at 10, with worship at 11. The latter will be broadcast live on WOBT-TV.
Holy Grounds coffee fellowship with coffee, doughnuts and good conversation will take place at 10:40. A nursery is provided for services.
Church youth director Jamie Adams will bring the message and the congregation will be hosting members of the classes of 1950 and 1951 from Union City High School as they celebrate a 60th anniversary.
The community is invited to attend all services.

To honor pastor, lady
Bishop Nolan Hardin and members of Greater Deliverance Ministries of Fulton will be special guests Sunday at 3 p.m. at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Tiptonville. The congregation will be honoring the pastor, Elder Curtis McLendon, and First Lady Gloria McLendon in a pre-anniversary celebration.
The community is invited to attend.

Homecoming service set
Samburg Assembly of God will celebrate homecoming Sunday at 253 North Reelfoot Ave.
The Rev. George Hutchison and the congregation invite the community to join them for worship at 11 a.m., a noon meal and gospel singing with Living Truth at 1:30 p.m.
The Rev. Randy Taylor, former pastor, and his wife, Debbie, will be ministering in the worship service.

Special service planned
Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located at 880 Beech Chapel Road near Union City, will celebrate Family, Friends and Neighbor Day Sunday. Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m., with worship at 11 and a meal of fried crappie and all the trimmings at noon.
The community is invited to attend.

To serve pancakes
Members of South Fulton United Methodist Church will serve an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Saturday from 6-10 at the church, located at 205 Orchard Drive.
Donations will be accepted for pancakes, sausage, orange juice, coffee and milk.
Proceeds will support church programs.

To honor seniors
New Beginnings Ministries in Water Valley, Ky., will honor all grandparents and senior citizens Sunday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Terry Bolden, pastor of New Victory Baptist Church in Rutherford, and his congregation will be joining him for the 3 p.m. service. A meal will be served when guests arrive.
The community is invited to attend.

Pole dedication set
The Interfaith Student Center at the University of Tennessee at Martin will hold a Peace Pole dedication ceremony Oct. 4 at 5:30 p.m.
The hand-crafted monument displays  the message and prayer “May Peace Prevail on Earth” on its six sides in 12 languages: English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Cherokee, Swahili, Hebrew, Korean, Portuguese and Russian.
The Peace Pole Project, which manufactures the monuments, says there are thousands of poles in 180 countries around the world serving as monuments to peace and constant reminders to visualize and pray for world peace.
The ceremony will begin with a Peace Meal potluck dinner at 5:30 p.m. and the installation and dedication will be at 6:15.
“Our hope is that the Peace Pole will help to united all members of our community by calling us all to work and pray for peace,” said Interfaith intern April Merritts.
The event is part of a semester-long emphasis on peace which includes 5 p.m. weekday gathering for prayer for peace on the Interfaith front lawn at 312 Lovelace St. in Martin.

Gospel singing set
A Southern gospel singing is planned for 6 p.m. Saturday at House of Prayer on Highway 60 in LaCenter, Ky. Featured will be The Masters Quartet from Tupelo, Miss., along with For Him and The Moreheads.
A love offering will be received.

Support group formed
Everyday Strength Cancer Support Group for patients, caregivers and families will meet 6:30 p.m. Mondays beginning Oct. 3 at Union City Second Baptist Church.
The class will be led by Debi Morris and Lorraine Beachum. The church is located at 831 Everett Blvd.

Singing program planned
The People Place Assembly of God is announcing a gospel singing Sunday at 5 p.m. with guest singers The Maxey Family.  
The church is located at 728 Broadway St. in South Fulton.
The public is invited to come and join in this special service.

Women’s event slated
Healing Faith Family Worship Center at 2113 West Main St. in Union City will be hosting “Women Helping Women,” an event to help women “pray, learn and grow together and increase in knowledge and wisdom” at 10 a.m. Monday.
There will be prayer time for all concerns and open discussion in the class.
The community is invited to attend this session with Deanna Sharp as the speaker.
