Westview blanks
Lady Rebel squad

Westview handed Obion Central its fourth straight shutout loss on Tuesday with a 2-0 win in their distict showdown in Martin.
Kayla Guthrie scored both Westview goals against a Lady Rebel defense that was solid, led by Taylor Baker with seven saves.
Makenzie Vincent was equally good in goal for the Lady Chargers, though, posting seven saves as well.
Westview is now 9-2 overall, 5-0 in district play and travels to Gibson County on Monday with play beginning at 5:30 p.m.
OC’s record is 4-7-1 heading into a home match vs. Ripley on Tuesday.

UTM’s Everett
named top TE

Senior Ben Everett was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s tight end of the week by College Football Performance Awards for the week ending Sept. 17.
Everett had two receptions for 70 yards in UT Martin’s 63-0 victory over visiting Union College Thursday night.
Everett caught a 47-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Derek Carr in the third quarter.
The senior from Loudon has three catches for 91 yards in two games this season. He is averaging 45.5 yards per game.
Everett and the Skyhawks return to action tonight against OVC rival Murray State. Kickoff is set for 6 at Hardy M. Graham Stadium.

Local FCA group
hosting cookout

The UT Martin chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will host a benefit cookout for Skyhawk fan Lance Young who is battling cancer.
The benefit cookout is set before the UT Martin football game against Murray State tonight at Graham Stadium.
Boston Butts, pulled barbecue, chips, dessert, and a drink will be served. Serving begins at 4:30 p.m. next to the Bob Carroll Football Building.
The cost of the meal is a donation to help (Lance) Young and his family’s continuing fight against cancer.

Skyhawk V-ball duo
lauded again by OVC

For the second straight week, UT Martin’s Ash-ley Doherty and Kasey Elswick have been named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.
The awards mark the third career weekly honor for Doherty and fifth for Elswick. For Elswick, it is the fourth consecutive week she has brought home the defensive accolade.
