Dresden grad dies after being hit by car on work trip to Oklahoma
A Greenfield family mourns the loss of a grandson after he ventured to Oklahoma to assist in disaster recovery efforts. As grandmother Pamela Johns of Greenfield describes 24-year-old Nathan Tabor, she remembers his gift of gab and laughter that he brought to everyone’s lives that he came in contact with.
Johns said Tabor, a 2000 graduate of Dresden High School, headed out to the state of Oklahoma on Dec. 30 after it was hit by several days of snow and ice. Tabor was working with Gibbons Tree Service of Dresden helping Oklahoma residents recover after the wintry storms.
The grandmother said when Tabor was attempting to cross a main road at his location, he was hit by a vehicle. Tabor suffered from a fatal head injury as well as fractures.
He passed away on Friday. Services are set from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden. Tabor’s funeral is Thursday at the Journey of Faith to Freedom Church in Greenfield followed by burial at the Hornbeak Cemetery.
Johns issued a plea for help from the kindness of community members when the accident happened as Tabor, nor his mother Tracy Hoots of Dresden, had medical insurance. A donation fund has been designated in Tabor’s name at Greenfield Banking Company to help with the incurred medical expenses.
“We thank everyone for all of the phone calls and the love everyone has shown to us,” Johns said.
“Nathan was a very loving person. He enjoyed life and loved to pass a joke around. He was very smiley with the world, that was his way,” she added.
