Saturday service set
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Hickman, Ky., will have services Saturday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Terry Allen White, bishop of the Diocese of Kentucky, will be the celebrant. Light refreshments will be served in the parish house afterwards.
God-called revival set
Anointed Church of the Living God, located at 1211 South Miles Ave. in Union City, will host a “God-called revival” Friday and Saturday nights at 7. Jackie Thomas of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Martin will be the speaker. Bishop Barbara Bolden and the congregation invite the community to attend.
CONNECT to open
CONNECT 2011 will be held Wednesday night at the Obion County Fairgrounds in Union City, with gates to open at 5:30 p.m.
The youth-oriented Christian event will include music by Changing Pace Band and feats of amazing physical strength by Mega Force Power Team.
An iPad 2 will be given away.
The event is sponsored by the local Student Leadership Network and the Tennessee Baptist Convention.
CP service set
Members of Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church on the corner of East Church and South Home streets will begin Sunday services at the church with prayer at 9:45 a.m. for the congregation, the worship service, the church and the nation.
Sunday school will follow at 10, with worship at 11. The latter will be broadcast live on WOBT-TV.
Holy Grounds coffee fellowship with coffee, doughnuts and good conversation will take place at 10:40. A nursery is provided for services.
The Rev. Corey Cummings, youth pastor of Milan Cumberland Presbyterian Church, will be the speaker. He will be speaking on the topic “On Forgiveness,” based on Matthew 18:21-35. Communion will be served.
A new children’s ministry is beginning at the church and there will be a rainbow bell choir for children from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade with rehearsals from 4:30-5:15 p.m. Wednesdays.
Fall Tent Revival set
The Fall Tent Revival, featuring Superintendent Dickerson Wells of Bethel Church of God in Christ in Memphis, will be open Monday through Oct. 14 at 7 each evening at 805 East Gibbs St. in Union City, at the site of Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ.
The Rev. Richard V. Johnson invites the community to attend.
Harvest Tea planned
Bells Chapel C.M.E Church at 20 North Highland Ave. in Fulton will celebrate Harvest Tea Sunday from 3-5 p.m. Joyce (Lee) Weeks of Lexington, Ky., will be the guest speaker and refreshments will be served. The public is welcome to attend, according to the pastor, the Rev. Claudette Snorton.
To begin revival
New Hope Free Will Baptist Church will welcome the Rev. Joseph Woodson of Holy Temple Church of God in Christ in Pinson Tuesday through Oct. 13 at 7 each evening.
Elder Ron Smith, the pastor, and the congregation invite the community to attend.
Fall bazaar set
Troy United Methodist Church will host its annual fall bazaar Saturday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in the congregation’s activities building on the square in Troy.
The bazaar will have clothing of all sizes, especially larger sizes; knick-knacks; books; shoes; Christmas decorations; bikes; furniture; and more.
Breakfast will be served beginning at 8 and a lunch menu will be available at 11. The bake sale, with items prepared by women of the church, will start at 8.
The community is invited to support this event.
To celebrate Friend Day
Hornbeak Pentecostal Church, located at 258 West Main St. in Hornbeak, is hosting Friend Day Homecoming Sunday, with a special service at 10 a.m., followed by a noon meal and a gospel singing featuring The Dildines from Union City beginning at 1 p.m.
The community is invited to attend any or all of these special events hosted to “honor the bond of love between friends, family and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Church to celebrate
Homecoming and revival services are planned for Oct. 16-18 at Kenton Church of God.
The Rev. Thomas Hargrove will be the speaker.
On Oct. 16, worship services will begin at 10:50 a.m., with lunch following and evening worship at 6. On Oct. 17 and 18, the service will begin at 7 p.m.
The community is invited to attend.
Men’s Day event slated
Jacksonville Free Will Baptist Church, located at 202 College St. in South Fulton, will be celebrating the congregation’s annual Men’s Day Sunday at 2 p.m.
The guest speaker will be the Rev. Floyd Springfield and his congregation from Moore’s Chapel Baptist Church in Milan.
The Rev. James Watford is the pastor and he and the congregation invite the community to attend.
Planning bazaar in UC
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church women’s group is preparing for the upcoming holiday bazaar at the church, located at 1303 East Reelfoot Ave. in Union City in the activities building.
There will be many items for sale and breakfast and lunch will be served.
Food pantry open
Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church’s “One For All” food pantry will be open Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. Proof of income and residency are required.
