City of Union City public works director Steve Ladd reminds local residents that limb and brush crews only pick up trees, limbs and brush for residents who have cut and placed the debris curbside themselves. The city does not pick up work done by contractors, who are required to haul away all debris they have been hired to cut down.
There is also an ordinance in effect prohibiting raking, sweeping or dumping leaves, grass clippings and other yard debris in storm drains, curbs or gutters. Such action causes the city’s storm sewer system to back up, resulting in the flooding of city streets.

Ladd said the cooperation of city residents is greatly appreciated.
