Youth hunt breakfast
coming to Dresden

The 6th annual Youth Hunt Breakfast will be held at Mack’s Grove Baptist Church, 4580 Palmersville Hwy. 89 in Dresden, on Oct. 29.
The breakfast begins at 4:30 a.m., and prizes will be awarded at 7 a.m.
Participants must register at the breakfast to be eligible for prizes.
Throughout the day, deer weigh-in at Wits End Acres, 4855 Boydsville Road, will determine prizes.  
Chili, hot dogs, burgers and the trimmings will be served at Wits End Acres also.

UTM runners 3rd
at Chattanooga meet

The UT Martin cross country teams each brought home third-place finishes from the Chattanooga Front Runner Invitational, held last weekend.
The Skyhawk men’s team combined for 66 points on the 5K course, while the women’s team compiled 55 points in the 2-mile trek.
Tallon Scott led the men’s team, chalking up a 12th place finish with a time of 16:20. Adam Merook and Tyler Holmes closely followed, finishing with times of 16:29 and 16:35, respectively. Vance Pounders (16:43), Ryan Pett (16:51), Benji Sparks (17:06) and Hunter Kesse (17:19) rounded out the scorers for UT Martin.
On the women’s side, Emily Jones paced the squad with an eighth place finish (12:34). Laura Wind slotted right behind Jones with a time of 12:45, followed by Amanda Wardlaw (12:52) and Hannah Northam (12:57). Ellie Luze’s time of 13:12 was the next best score for the Skyhawks, while Makaila Offutt and Grace Lucas scored with times of 13:15 and 13:19, respectively.

Skyhawk rodeo teams
runners-up in Ozark

The UT Martin rodeo teams finished second this past weekend in the Ozark Region rodeo at the University of West Alabama.
On the men’s side, junior Jordan Thrasher won the calf roping average with a total time of 18.8. Thrasher was second in the first round with a time of 9.9. He won the second round with his time of 8.9.
Sophomore Tyler Waltz finished fourth in the bareback riding. Waltz had a 71-point ride in the first round.
The roping duo of Clay Mitchell and John Alley finished second in the average with a total time of 20.3. Mitchell and Alley won the first round with a time of 7.4. They were third in the second round.
On the women’s side, senior Chelsie McDade won the goat tying average. McDade’s time on two runs was 18.1. She finished second in the first round with a 9.5 and won the second round.

UTM golfers 13th
at Hopkinsville

Barton Hamilton and John Michael shot 1-under par and even par for the UT Martin golf team, which placed 13th out of 16 teams in the F&M Bank Austin Peay Intercollegiate Tuesday  at the Links of Novadell in Hopkinsville, Ky.
Hamilton opened the tournament with a 3-over par, but then turned in a 2-under in the second round and 1-under in the third round to lead UTM to a three-round 878.
Sisinni followed Ham-ilton’s pattern with a 5-over par in the first round and then a 1-under and even par to finish with a three-round 220.
