Westview basketball
sets Blue/Gold games

The Westview High School basketball teams will play a pair of Blue and Gold games Tuesday night at the school.
A chili supper before the contests will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the girls’ intrasquad matchup to begin around 6 or 6:15, according to Lady Charger head coach Sean Stephenson. The boys’ game will follow.
Admission with be $5 at the door.
Westview will begin its season at Riverside on Nov. 15 in a girls’ Hall of Champions game with a doubleheader at Henry County two nights later.

Gleason teams earn
sportsmanship honor

Gleason is one of three Class A schools in West Tennessee to earn an A.F. Bridges Divisional Award from the TSSAA.
The award is given to schools that have no reported unsportsmanlike conduct incidents during the previous school year.
The winning schools were nominated by local officials associations, other member schools and the Tennessee Observers Program for Sports (TOPS).
Of the 27 divisional winners, one school in each class will receive Tennessee’s top award for overall outstanding effort in its division, and then one of the three schools in each classification will be presented the A.F. Bridges State Award of Excellence.
The other West Tenne-ssee Class A schools are Huntingdon and West Carroll.

Weakley County takes
three Bridges awards

Weakley County is home to some of the best people in the TSSAA.
The A.F. Bridges Awards program lists three award winners from the county for Athletic District 8.
Chuck West of Dresden was named the Principal of the Year, Jeromy Davidson of Westview was selected Athletic Director of the Year, and Greenfield’s Greg Usery was chosen Contributor of the Year.
The program selects seven award winners in the nine athletic districts, handing out awards to 63 individuals from across the state.

UTM volleyball team
falls on Senior Day

The UT Martin volleyball fell 3-2 to Austin Peay (24-26, 23-25, 25-22, 27-25, 13-15) Saturday on Senior Day at Skyhawk Fieldhouse.
Now 15-12, the Skyhawks will close the home portion of their schedule tonight at 6 against Tennessee State in OVC play.
