The Sons of Confederate Veterans local camp 176 will meet Sunday at 2 p.m. at Obion County Museum on Edwards Street in Union City. All members are urged to attend, a spokesman said. Former Camp Commander Bill Threlkeld will be the guest speaker and will present a program on the local history related to the War for Southern Independence. Camp members will also be updated on the sidewalk project that was recently completed at Parker Cemetery Ridge Confederate Memorial Plaza. A discussion of the next project planned for the site will also be on the agenda.
The SCV works in conjunction with other historical groups to preserve Confederate history. It is not affiliated with any other group. The SCV rejects any group whose actions tarnish or distort the image of the Confederate soldier or his reasons for fighting.
For more information, visit the camp Web site at scvcamp176.org. Several new audio and video additions are to be found there, a spokesman said.
