USTA meeting set
for local players
There will a USTA tennis league meeting 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Obion County Public Library.
The meeting is open to prospective captains and interested players wanting to form a team, play on a team or learn more about USTA league tennis.
Plans for the upcoming season will be discussed, including adult, senior and the tri-level leagues.
TennisLink will be open after Jan. 1 for captains wanting to register their teams.

Madness All-America
includes UTM pair
UT Martin football players CJ Estelle and Michael Mancini were among six Ohio Valley Conference players named to the 2011 College Sports Madness Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America Team announced earlier this week.
Estelle, the Skyhawks’ punt returner and a defensive back, was a first-team selection, while Mancini, an offensive lineman, was a second team pick.
Estelle led the nation in punt return average during the 2011 season. The senior had 16 returns for 283 yards, an average of 17.7 yards per return. Included in that is a return of 76 yards for a touchdown against Austin Peay.
Mancini, a first-team All-OVC selection, graded out at 75 percent on the season.
He made two errors in 633 snaps and recorded 32 pancake blocks for the Skyhawks.
College Sports Mad-ness has covered FCS football all season.
During the regular season, the Madness provided an updated FCS Top 25 each week, recognized players of the week for each conference, and updated a projection of the FCS playoff bracket on a weekly basis. College Sports Madness has also provided extensive coverage of the FCS playoffs.
Hasselbeck sore;
status unknown
NASHVILLE (AP) — Tennessee coach Mike Munchak says Matt Hasselbeck is sore but walking around despite a left calf injury. Whether the veteran quarterback is strong enough to start against winless Indianapolis remains to be seen.
Munchak said Monday he is assuming Hassel-beck’s injury is on the mild side, even though he hadn’t heard back on an MRI exam.
Hasselbeck was hurt in the second quarter of a 22-17 loss to New Orleans, though he filled in for rookie Jake Locker with one completion in the fourth quarter before hopping to the sideline.
Skyhawks’ Taylor
top frosh again
UTM’s Myles Taylor earned his second OVC Freshman of the Week honor of the season after averaging 15 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game last week in road games against Lipscomb and Middle Tennessee.
Taylor hit 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from the floor and 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the free throw line.
He capped the week by scoring a season-high 19 points in a loss at Middle Tennessee.
