State library opens exhibit about cemeteries

NASHVILLE (AP) — The Tennessee State Library and Archives in Nashville has opened an exhibit about cemeteries.
“Silent Cities of the Dead” focuses on the role cemeteries across the state play in the study of history.
They include Nashville City Cemetery and First Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, both on the National Register of Historic Places; Upper Cumberland cemeteries, with a large concentration of “tent style” graves; and Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis, where many of the city’s historical figures were buried.
The exhibit will run through early March.
