OCCHS students share their talents

Obion County Central High School students enjoyed a variety of musical performances during the recent Family Career and Community Leaders of America club’s fifth annual talent show.
There were a total of 14 acts that competed on stage in the gymnasium of OCCHS. There was a packed audience, including three judges that determined the contestants’ fate.
A majority of the school’s student body was in attendance at the show, which raised money that will be used for the club’s activities.
“This is our annual fund raiser,” club president Hailey Orr said. “We were very pleased with the turnout and everyone really seemed to enjoy the show.”
Sara Tittle, a junior at OCCHS, won first place. She sang “When All Is Said and Done,” a song she wrote herself, and played the guitar.
A band made up of OCCHS students Mason Hammond, Brenan Woody, Davey Edmaiston and Will Horton came in second with “Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns N’ Roses.
OCCHS junior Kallan Parker won third place by playing her guitar and singing a song she wrote herself.
Zach Cochran and Taylor White received “Star of the Show” with Zach’s original rap, “Super Star.”
“The other FCCLA members and I were very proud of our talent show participants,” Miss Orr said. “Everyone did a really great job and the money raised will go a long way helping our club.”
FCCLA members will participate in local and statewide competitions next year. The club’s members participate in activities to help others at OCCHS and the community, like collecting cans for a food drive and making turkeys out of pumpkins to give to residents at a local nursing home.
